IKEA has created its beautiful new collection, Musselblomma, in collaboration with SEAQUAL INITIATIVE, in an aim to support ocean clean-ups and take action against marine litter. The collection is made with SEAQUAL® YARN made from plastic retrieved from the Mediterranean.
IKEA wants to have a positive impact on our oceans, engaging in projects to clean plastic pollutants from our oceans and proactively preventing further plastic ocean pollution.
MUSSELBLOMMA is IKEA’s first step towards using Upcycled Marine Plastic in products and turning it into a raw material for the future. The polyester fabric used in MUSSELBLOMMA is made from SEAQUAL® YARN containing Upcycled Marine Plastic, including PET plastic waste caught in nets in the Mediterranean Sea and collected by Spanish fishermen.
